Service Details
Casey R. Burke, 61, left this world peacefully with his family by his side to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2011.
Casey is survived by his five children; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters; one brother, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, and one brother.
Casey’s family was his life. He loved unconditionally and his door was always open to everyone and he helped anyone in need. He lives in our hearts forever!
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.
The family invites ALL to join them in celebrating his life at his home at 7406 SW 14th Street following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Just wanting you to know, we're all doin "ok" down here, but, missing you immensely!! If you can, would you put in a word to the big guy up there and ask him to help nuggie out!?

Dad ~
Not ONE damn day has gone by that you have not been in my thoughts. I talk to you at the very least, once a day, to which I'm sure you are well aware. I only wish I could hear you answering back. There is much in life right now to be grateful for, but, there is also much in life right now that saddens me immensely. Please continue to watch over all of us down here, and if possible dad, PLEASE help me to receive the gift of being able to listen more carefully & hearing what you have to say...

To My wonderful cousin,Kathleen, my sweet precious Ann, and Duffy who always brings sunshine into my life I am sending my deepest sorrow for the passing of your very unique brother and my cousin, Casey. Casey always reminded me in many ways of my deceased husband, A.J. They were the same age when they died but there was something about these 2 that gels with me. They both loved their families dearly, they also loved their beer. They could be funny, loving, passionate but also there was a part of them that very few people could get close to. I loved Casey, I admired his devotion to his girls. I saw the devastation in his face when Mary was dying, He felt so helpless and he wanted to stop her pain. He was totally baffled by the death of Kelly. Big brothers don't die. All of you are surviors, you've been through a lot. You know Casey will still be watching over all of you along with Aunt Marcella, Kelly and Mary and all his extended family that is enveloped in God's love. Casey is in a safe place now so I pray for all of you for God to lessen your sorrows. You are strong, Irish and both Higelin and Burke blood surges through you,need I say more. With all my love and prayers, Dawn Marie and all my family.

in his keeping now. Your Mom and Dad, Brother and Sister, Aunt Dolores and all the rest must be rejoicing to have you with them. You know "Case"...although you tried to be tough, you were always a softie at heart and we all loved you for that. God Bless You buddy. All my prayers are with you.

Casey: I will always remember how kind and wonderful you were. I love you with all my heart. I named my oldest daughter Casey because I loved your name so much. We will miss you but you will be forever in our hearts and minds. Say hello to all of our loved ones and keep us close. Until we meet again!!!

My little brother Casey held a deep spiritual quest within him all his life. We talked of a saying by Pierre Teilhard De Chardin, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience." When Casey was a little boy he was so enthusiatic about learning new things. He was a good student and involved in sports, scouting, adventures, in camping,fishing, and the world that he wanted to explore and be a part of.
He was an altar boy and loved serving Mass. He learned the whole Mass in Latin and was always rehersing the words and gestures with his brother Kelly and me. Playing Mass was our favorite pastime. He looked up to his brother Kelly and compared himself. Sometimes Casey was afraid to be himself in case he was wrong about life. Struggling for perfection -that spiritual connection of his- was often a hard task but always he would ask for God's will in his life and follow after his Kelly. Duffy, his little brother, was often the one who put up with Casey and Kelly's pranks. But, I'll tell you something, they were the first ones to stand beside him and take care of him when the need came up. Mary, Casey's sister, was 3 years younger than Casey, but, they were always more like friends than brother and sister in their younger years. And Ann, 10 years younger, he would take care of more like a father than a brother. I have this picture in my head seeing him (his brother Kelly also was "guilty" of this), come home from school and finding Ann in her playpen. She would stand and put out her arms to him and he would lift her up and give her a kiss and if Mom didn't get after him for taking her out of the playpen he would take her and play with her before getting on with his homework or playing with his friends. His friends were numerous and they always followed his lead. They were always at the house and he was loyal and caring of each and every one of them. He befriended everyone he met and they returned the favor. Many of his childhood friendships were kept in his memory and valued in his adult life. Casey had such good heartedness about him. Casey was a joy to know with all the good and bad of his humaness. And, through all his human experience will come the enhancement the spiritual being that he truly was and continues to be for eternity. I love you Casey, you and Kelly and Mary, Duffy and Ann, are my heart and soul. Live in peace my brother.

I miss you and will always miss you grandpa! Tytus (your Jellybean) will know what a wonderful man you were and how you already loved him while he was still growing in my tummy! I know you are in a "better" place, but it sure won't be any easier to let you go. I LOVE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL!
