James E. Niffenegger, 75, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Niffenegger; his children, Carla (Karl) Estermann of Norwalk, Cathy (Mike) Bierman of Strafford, MO, Christin Stamper of Des Moines, and Susan (Chris) Palso of Norwalk; grandchildren, Bobby Raymond, Jennifer Raymond, Emily and Trevor Barrett, Laura Stamper, Leah Palso, Sara Burris, Katie Burris, Abby Burris, Jakob Estermann, and Jordan Estermann; great-grandchildren, Bella Raymond and Evelyn Barrett; brother, Jerry Niffenegger; sisters, Patricia Garwood and Lila Kurth; and step-mom, Esther Niffenegger. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellsworth Niffenegger, mother, Marilyn Johnson, and brother, Dwight Niffenegger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011, at St. John’s the Apostle, on the corner of North Avenue and Orchard Drive in Norwalk, with burial following at Norwalk Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.

Jean,
You may not remember me, I'm Ida's sister. I was talking to Ida today and asked about you & Jim. She told me of Jim's passing so I had to let you know I was thinking of you. I thought you both were the nicest people ever. I know Jim was a man of faith and that has to help you to know he is with the Lord and within your heart.

Jean: We are in town for my Sister Nancy Belluchi Funeral and noticed below her obit in paper the list of services at Hamilton's saw Jim name sorry to for your loss. We remember our beginning of dating to gether. To bad we didn't notice the paper earlier today could of come to Jim's funeral it 1:00 now. We are staying at the Staybridge Suites phone 515 223 0000. Dear Susan and family
I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Jean, you always represent kindness with your smile. May you find comfort in the memories and treasure all the love. My mother Mary McNally was in the hospital at the same time as James. WE ran into you and Abby in the elevator. She passed away Jan. 22, 2011. God know has two more servants into HIS kingdom. May James rest in peace. amen

Jean, Susan and family,
My prayers are with all of you. Jim was a great man. He helped me through a tough patch in my life as he did for both of my boys. He had a warm heart and a gentle touch as you all know. I know he will be missed by all. I am sorry I will not be able to make the funeral. The weather is not cooperating. I will be thinking of you all, today and tommorrow.

I don't have the words to describe how much I love this family. I'm not sure that words can say how sad I am that Jim is gone. Jean you are the strongest woman I know and the most amazing mom. Susan and the rest are very lucky to have you! If there is anything I can do please let me know.
