Service Details
Florine Pirtle, 78, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born August 27, 1932, in Chariton, Iowa to Lee and Ola Sparks.
Florine enjoyed going gambling at Prairie Meadows Casino, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.
Florine is survived by three sons, Thomas (Patty), Paul Jr. (Dawn) and Kevin (Amy) Pirtle; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. Family will visit with friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in loving memory of Florine Pirtle.

I wanted to send my sincere sympathy to all of you. Florine was such a wonderful woman with a warm smile for everyone. I met Florine and your father Paul when I started working in Ankeny with the Special Ed. preschool program. They were such a team and loved all the children that rode their bus. Then after they had retired I was surprised to find Florine on Bus 32 once again helping with the special ed. children. Florine was a great example to all of us, she always had a kind word, a loving heart, and a smile for everyone. I know that she and Paul are together once again.

Our prayers go our to all of your family. She was an amazing woman that loved her great-grandgirlies with a passion we can all learn from. She will be missed, but I know she spending time above watching over all of you and waiting for the next crazy thing those girls do that she can laugh about.
