Hazel Reed

Hazel M. Reed, 90, passed away January 21, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hazel was born February 23, 1920, in Des Moines. She grew up on the East side with her parents, George and Florence Randleman and settled there with Charley after their marriage. Hazel and Charley were active members of Cutty’s Campground where Hazel was known for her pies. They also attended Armstrong’s Retirees Club for potlucks and dances at the American Legion.

Hazel is survived by her daughters and sons-in law, Barry and Carla Peck and Thomas and Carol Neumann; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Helen Honold. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charley; daughter, Diane Olmstead; and sister, Iona Robinette.
