Service Details

Patrick James Stoffel, 43, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Visitation will be Sunday, January 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Lutheran Church, 4380 Wakonda Dr., Norwalk.

Patrick was born on June 25, 1967 to James and Victoria (Esser) Stoffel in Guttenberg, Iowa. He was baptized on July 2, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Littleport, IA. Patrick graduated from Central Community High School in Elkader, IA and then Arizona Automotive Institute in Glendale, AZ. He worked for many years in the trucking and heavy equipment industry as a mechanic including Don’s Truck Sales, TMC Trucking, Ziegler Caterpillar, and Manatt’s. For the past 5 years he has worked for EMC Insurance as a heavy equipment appraiser.

Patrick, also known as Pat Boy, Mr. Pat, and Pat Man, loved life and was the ultimate family man, friend and follower of Jesus. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and had many interests that they all shared. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming with his parents, being involved in the kids’ soccer and cross country activities, hunting, four-wheeling, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, traveling, and landscaping/home projects. He was a devoted husband, was very involved with his kids and volunteering at the church. He was the “go to” guy in the neighborhood. Pat was always willing to give his time.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia (Glawe) Stoffel; children, Kelsey, Ben and Jamie; parents, James and Victoria Stoffel; brother-in-law, Danny Anderson and wife Kathy; Patricia’s parents, Dennis and Delores Glawe; sister-in-law, Paula VandeKieft and her husband Jeff and daughters Lindsey, Kayla, and Amber; brother-in-law, Jim Glawe and his wife Mandy and daughter Faith; and a host of extended family and friends. Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Lois Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Norwalk Cross Country Team, Norwalk High School Soccer Team or to New Life Lutheran Church.
