Brian Michael O'Neill

Brian Michael O'Neill, 50, passed into the care of God Saturday at home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home on Lyon with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Hamilton's.

Brian was born in Great Falls, MT to Kay and Ed O'Neill on August 16, 1960. He attended Visitation Catholic grade school and East High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force where he studied meteorology. Returning to Des Moines, Brian spent 25 years working for the City of Des Moines' Park and Recreation Department. He was very proud of his work including the bridge at Gray's Lake, the bike trail and the various memorials at public cemeteries.

Brian loved and adored his family. They would always come first and he would do anything to help them. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them including building and flying model airplanes with his father.

Brian is survived by his wife Paula; parents, Edwin and Mary Kathryn (Kay) of Des Moines, IA; his children, Frank Butler (Alissa) of Dallas, TX; Robert Sullivan, (Angela), Kenneth Sullivan, and Brandy Sullivan (Jason Fiscus) all of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Emma and Hannah Butler, Gage Mendenhall, Brandon, Bonnie, and Tristan Sullivan, Kaine, Austin and Casey Fiscus, R.J., Ashton, Jonathan and Justin Sullivan; brothers, Shawn (Jennifer Hutchins) of Des Moines, IA, Tim (Laney) of Federal Way, WA; and sister Erin (Richard) Stoen of Des Moines. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
