Service Details

Pauline Doris Oline, 86, of Des Moines died peacefully at home Saturday of cancer. The body will be cremated and services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. A visitation will be conducted from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Pauline was born in 1924 at Winterset, Iowa. The middle child in a family of seven, she graduated from Winterset High School, then moved to Des Moines in 1943. She married Stan Oline and they had three sons: Greg (Polly) of Rickreall, OR, Martin (Claudia) of Kansas City, MO, and Marvin (Debbie) of Des Moines, IA.

She played basketball all four years of high school as a guard. She was an amateur photographer, helped her husband start Lawson’s Photography and was president of Highland Park Business Women’s Club in 1960. She retired from Northwestern Bell in 1988 and stayed active with many volunteer organizations including the Pioneers, the Foresters and with the Corn Patch Clowns, where she was known as Ollie the real clown. She was also a Master Gardener, helping to create Walnut Trace Park, and a volunteer at the greenhouses for the City of Des Moines.

Pauline is survived by her sister, Leona Bovett, brothers, Don and Eugene Parkins, six nieces, seven nephews and three grandchildren.
