Steven M. Woodford

Steven M. Woodford, 88, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2010, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Steve was born on August 23, 1922, to Sadie Elva (Marsh) and Noble George Woodford. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. Steve enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Steve worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service and he was an avid bowler.

Steve is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia; his daughter Deborah (Adrian) Kouri; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Ellen Nuzum. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven “Denny” Woodford; brother, Martin Woodford; and sister; Virginia Ellen Quick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Bright Kavanagh House in loving memory of Steven.
