Ethel Grace was born August 31, 1927, to Maurice and Elise (Watkins) Kanan in St. Joseph, Missouri. She went home to her Lord and Savior, December 25, 2010, in Carlisle, Iowa, where she was a resident at Carlisle Care Center.

She was united in marriage to W. Darrell Morton in September of 1947. She was a housewife until her sons had graduated from high school when she became a cook for the Bondurant-Farrar schools.

Ethel was an avid traveler, traveling across the US and Europe. She also tended to her large garden and many plants. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club and the Rolling Agers. She was a long time member of the Federated Church in Bondurant.

Ethel will be missed by her two sons, Dennis (Marcia), Bondurant, IA, and David (Pat) Morton, Humboldt, TN; four grandchildren, Todd (Lora), Tate, Matthew and Lisa Morton; great-grandchildren, Casey, Amanda, Rebecca, and Megan Morton; brothers and sisters, Jean Trzecki, Richard Fredrickson, James Pohlman, Steve Schunaman, Jo Zakas, Carl Zacher, Mary Zacher, Rosella Harrell, Fredrick Zacher, and Samuel Zacher; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Charles Zacher; her husband, W. Darrell Morton; brothers and sisters, Maurice Earl Kanan, Harry Kanan, Virgil Kanan, Ann Stanley, Patricia Kanan, and Robert Zacher, foster parents, Alfred and Gladys Snyder.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour to prior to services, at the church.
