Marie Kathleen Golay, 81, of Sharpsburg, GA, died December 21, 2010. Mrs. Golay was born in Arkansas and worked for Northwestern Bell. She was a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Mrs. Golay was preceded in death by her husband Loy F. Golay. She is survived by Mark and Patrician Golay of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard and Teresa Golay of Manassas, VA, David and Bonita Golay of Virginia Beach, VA and Stephen and Vicki Golay of Sharpsburg, GA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Iris June Williams, Jacqueline Folsom, Willa Dean Jones and Marianna Young.
Graveside services will be held at Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Iowa on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona.

Kathleen and I were colleagues in Repair at Northwestern Bell for more than twenty years. Kathleen was friendly, pleasant and a good co-worker. I especially remember when we first started working together and discovered we both made our pie crusts the right way -- with lard. After that, she often brought some to the office for me to take home so that I always had enough for baking.
