Lynn Johnson

Lynn Dale Johnson was born December 22, 1945 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Wilma M. and Glenn L. Johnson. He passed away on March 25, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lynn grew up on a farm south of Glenwood, Iowa and attended Glenwood Community High School where he and twin brother Lyle seemed to be the center of social and athletic activities leading to track scholarships at Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas.
Lynn started working for MidAmerican Energy March 14, 1969. He worked as a lineman before becoming Business Manager/Financial Secretary of IBEW 499 on March 1, 1982, the position he still held. Lynn was also the President of the Iowa Utility Workers Conference. He was a 37 year member of IBEW Local 499.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Lauretta; children, Jennifer, Jill, Joel, Tommy and Andrew; seven grandchildren; his parents; brothers, Les, Steve, Lyle, Keith and Brian; and an extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katelynn Beck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
