Lorene Adamson

Dorothy “Lorene” Adamson, 86, died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at the Fountain West Nursing Home.

Lorene was born on August 14, 1924, in Scotland, Arkansas to Hettie (Hall) and Merle Jackson. As a young woman she traveled from the hills of Arkansas to California to work in a munitions factory during WW II. There she met Gerald Dunbar who was in the Navy and after a three week romance, they were married. Gerald and Lorene moved to Iowa and raised three children together. Lorene loved being a mother and a homemaker. Her talents included taking care of her home and her family, and crocheting.

Lorene is survived by her daughters, Jackie Gilbert and Sharon Dunbar; her son, Richard Dunbar; seven grandchildren, Rhondi, Rick, Marcia, Kimberly, Jodi, Lisa and Mark; one great-grandchild, Brooke; and two brothers, Roy Jackson and Arlin Jackson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hettie and Merle, and her husband of 30 years, Gerald.

There are no services planned. Burial will take place at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
