Sally J. Purdy, 75, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born September 9, 1935, in Melcher, IA to Earl and Genevieve (Wagner) Juline.
Sally was a member of Union Park United Methodist Church. She loved vacationing in Minnesota and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her children, Lisa Ruth, John (Darlys) Purdy; grandchildren, Jacob, Bailey, and Samantha; sisters, Patricia (Richard) Rose, and Harriett (Richard) Hall; as well as other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Purdy and her parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial to follow at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny. Family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union Park United Methodist Church in loving memory of Sally.

Nita sent me the obituary, as I now live in Jupiter, Florida. Sally and I went to Junior High. We had been getting together with other friends for lunch upon my return for visits. What a great loss of such a happy person. Always a smile and cheerful attitude. Our family attended Union Park Methodist Church when living in Des Moines.

I was very saddened to learn of Sally's death. She was a dear friend to me when we worked together. We shared many many good times and some tough ones too. She was always a caring and supportive friend and she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this sad time.
