Neanza Washington, 51, passed away December 13, 2010, at Kavanagh on 56th Street in Des Moines.
Neanza was born June 23, 1959, in Gary, IN to Andrew and Nannie Dorn, Sr. She was a manager with a Home Healthcare Agency in Portage, IN. She relocated to Des Moines in 2004 and resided at Corinthian Gardens. Neanza will be remembered as a determined, feisty, loving, caring, kind and generous woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals, especially dogs. Neanza also enjoyed going to the casinos and cooking.
Neanza is survived by her siblings, Bessie (Willie) Kirk of Gary, IN, Dorothy Bradley of Merrillville, IN, Delores (John) Brame of Gary, IN, April Spann of Arlington, IL, Rickey (Stephanie) Dorn of Joliet, IL, Betty (Glenn) Smith of Gary, IN, Carolyn Johnson of Des Moines and Rosa (Melvin) McRoy of Des Moines; special friend, Alora Johnson of Gary, IN; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwight Washington; and siblings, Denise Dorn, Bobby Dorn, and Andrew Dorn, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Glendale Cemetery.

I'm very sad to learn about Neanza's death. I only knew her from online chatting at ISPQ, but she was a kind, humorous, understanding person who I will miss a lot.
May she rest in peace.

I am deeply sorry that Neanza has passed away. I worked with her at Opportunity Enterprises for many years. She was fun to talk to and always did her best to help our clients. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family.

Peaceful greetings to each of you who touched and were touched by Neanza. I had the pleasure of being a part of her Opportunity Enterprises family and remember her big beautiful smile and her laughter.
Neanza was a person to respect. She was as caring to her co-workers as she was to her clients. I was lucky to have experienced her loving heart first hand.
