Carey Lynn Battin

Carey Lynn Battin, 60, passed away December 9, 2010, at the V.A. Hospital in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Norwalk with burial following at 2 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Carey was born September 16, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Sondra Sirdoreus on December 16, 1972, at the First Baptist Church in Norwalk, Iowa. Carey was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked various jobs in the Des Moines Area, specializing in roofing and siding. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Carey is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sondra; sons, Randy and Matt; daughter, Rebecca (Dave) Kennard; six grandchildren; mother, Jerry Turner; sister, Joanna Lewis; brothers, Bob and Roger. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, uncles, aunts, and grandparents.
