Rosalind Maples, 66, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born September 4, 1944 in Gainesville, FL to Rev. Harry (Bob) and Helen Russell.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, being with her parents, children, and grandchildren. Roz also liked listening to southern gospel music, especially the Headin’ Home Quartet.
Roz is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Maples; son, Jeff (Missy) Maples; daughter, Trisha (Mel) Szymanski; grandchildren, Josh Maples, Dan Szczygielski, Kim Szczygielski, Nick Maples, Brandon Maples, and Juli Szczygielski; her father and mother of Bondurant, IA; brother, Gary (Maggie) Russell; sister, Joyce (Ralph) Vance; brother, Bob (Terri) Russell; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her youngest grandson, David Szczygielski.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2010, at First Federated Church, 4801 Franklin Avenue, with cremation to follow upon her request. Family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how much your Mom and Grandmom meant to all of you and I am sure she did too. These things are never easy but we can take heart in knowing that the love you all shared never dies; it blossoms as time goes on and fond memories are recalled.
