Rebecca McDonald, 51, passed away December 6, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Rebecca was born May 6, 1959, in Des Moines to Raymond and Naneen Sly. She worked as a CNA for many years and was also a cashier at DMACC, which she enjoyed very much. Rebecca loved spending time with her family and crocheting.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Thomas T.; children, Joshua “Bubba” McDonald, Kenneth McDonald and Timothy McDonald; granddaughter, Hillary Peterson; brothers, Carl and Mark Sly; and her step-father, Charles Schammerhorn. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

I was so sorry to hear of your wife's passing. I can only tell you that you have been in my prayers and your family. May the God that our grandpa and grandma knew, fill you with His peace and may he comfort you and your family!
I know it has been years since we have been in contact, but I still remember some times in our younger years at Grandpa and Grandma's! You and I both know that they are in Heaven today!

Tom and boys, I am so sorry to hear about your wife and mother. My heart is with you all. I can only imagine what you are going through. Stay close to God and let him carry most of the burden for you. I wasn't close to Rebecka but I know she made you happy. I love you all and if there is anything I could do for you, I am just a phone call away. Sis and aunt.

I just found out of her passing and am taken aback of the news. Although I didn't know Becky that well, I will miss seeing and talking to her at the DMACC Cafe. I just wanted to express my sympathy to you - her family and friends. May you find comfort and solace in your family, friends, and faith at this time of loss.
