Mary Gorla

Mary Gorla, 93 died Monday, December 6, 2010, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.

Mary was born June 27, 1917, in Des Moines to Peter and Rose Gorla. She worked as an accountant at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Mary was on the Board of AARP, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Anthony’s 50+ Club, AARP, and the Telephone Pioneers.

Mary is survived by her sisters-in-law, H. Louise Gorla, Joanne Gorla, Irene Gorla; her nieces and nephews, Roseanne Pfaff, Linda Nino, Donna Balmes, Terry Collum, Marcia Elliott, Janice Williamson, Arleen Horan, Nancy Donaldson, Lynn Slone, Diane Evans, Cathy Lindsey, Brian Gorla, Mark Gorla, John Gorla, and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and brothers, Frank Gorla, Elena Braun, Evelyn Gorla, Jack Gorla, Don Gorla, Bob Gorla; her niece Marie Metcalf; her nephews Dion Gorla and Bob Gorla.
