Maria Elena Kingsley was reunited with her husband who was the love of her life on December 3, 2010. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Maria was born in West Des Moines on June 13, 1944, to Ramon and Gregoria Gallardo. She was the youngest of eleven children.
Her greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Louis "Pat" Kingsley, her parents, sister Josephine Ayala and sister Teresa Gallardo.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Michele (Chad) Hargin, Andrew (Kimberly) Kingsley, Christopher Kingsley and Amanda Jo Kingsley; her grandchildren: Megan Jo, Emily, Cody, Annaka, Lily and Drew "Finney"; her siblings: Leno Gallardo, Trina Salazar, Catherine Martinez, Frank Gallardo, John (Mary) Gallardo, Alfred Gallardo, Ramona (Jose) Rocha and Mary (Gary) Kramer; her sisters-in-law: Mary (Joe) DeRusso, Kristi (Al) Lang, Kathi (Jack) Clarey, Theresa (Scott) Benz and Jodi (Randy) Hefel; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday 5 to 8 p.m., December 9, 2010, at Hamilton's Southtown with rosary at 7:15 p.m. Funeral will be at St John The Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk at 11:00 a.m. Friday, with burial of her cremated remains immediately following at the Norwalk Cemetery.

Just heard of Maria's death. My sympathy to all. My sister,
Dianne Woolley-Stebbins lives in AZ., was one of her best friends in High School. Therefore, Maira was over to our house many times. I enjoyed her visits. Remember her as very sweet & kind, caring person.

If Kristi or Kathi is reading this, you might remember me from high school. Maria was in my wedding to Philip Carlson at Sacred Heart Church back in 1962. I had lost track of her and had tried to find her several times. I remember her as the sweet, timid girl, the best friend a girl could have. I am so very sorry to hear that she has passed away. I would love to hear from either of you about Maria's life and her death. My cell phone number is 515-240-3144. I also am a grandma of 10 and can so appreciate her children's and grandchildren's grief at losing her at such a young age.

I hold you all in my hearts, prayers and thoughts.... these hard days ahead. You have such a wonderful and loving family hold each and rely on each other. Knowing she is with your father, grandma and grandpa is of comfort but doesnot ease the pain. I shed tears for you and hopes that the pain will lesson each day and the joy we all will see her again and her suffering is ended and her face filled with joy as she met your father once again waiting for her. We love you all !!
