Melba Ida Nelson

Melba Ida Nelson, 94, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, when she went to be with her Lord and Savior.

A family graveside service was held in Parkersburg at Oak Hill Cemetery. A Service of Remembrance will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 2 pm at Valley View Village Chapel.

Melba was born April 17, 1916, in Butler County, IA, to Clarence and Dora Card. She graduated from Parkersburg High School. Melba lived in the Waterloo area before moving to Des Moines, IA. She was a lifelong homemaker and her life was one of caring for her family members.

She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and a 30 year resident of Valley View Village in Des Moines.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Chris) Christiansen; grandsons, Curtis (Lynette) and Keith (Jane); and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; son, Sterling (La Donna); and brother, Gordon Card.
