Service Details
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Carzoli died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the age of 82 at Taylor House Hospice.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 4, 2010, from 1 – 5 p.m. Both services will be at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
She was known for being generous with love, wit and smiles.
Gwen is survived by her two children, Rock Carzoli (Kathy Gamble) and Sue Christensen; three grandchildren, Jon, Stephanie (Dave Thompson) and David Christensen and her sister, Clarice “Chickee” Quinn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Carzoli; parents, Ruby and Clarence Kneeland and Forrest Hanna; her sister, Barbara Wilson and brother, Charles Hanna.
Originally from Downeast Maine, she moved to Des Moines’ east side in 1954. She was a long-time employee of Christopher’s Restaurant.

Gwen was a great friend and will be missed. I had the honor of living by Gwen for many years and called her a friend. I grew up with David and when he came to his grandmother's house he would hang out at my place. She is in heaven out of pain and with her family. My sons enjoyed talking to her. I pass my deapest symphathies to you and the family.
