Alfred “Dale” Miller, 62, passed away Tuesday November 30, 2010. Memorial services will be held 12 noon Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time on Saturday.

Dale (as he was known to family and friends) was born June 22, 1948 in Princeton, MO to Alfred and Laura (Robbins) Miller. He attended Technical high school, and then went on to become a Sr. Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Vietnam War from November 9, 1965 and was released from active duty on January 20, 1969. Dale received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He came back to Iowa where he married Sheri (Montgomery) in 1970. They settled in Norwalk, IA where they were blessed with two children. Due to his love of family, tinkering and racing, he became his children’s inspiration to partake in many spirited years of motocross racing.

Dale was an ambitious worker holding two jobs for 25 years. He retired from the VA hospital in January 2009, but he continued working part time at Capital City Fruit. He then was able to spend a portion of his days with his family, hobbies and gardening and still perform work he so enjoyed.

Dale was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda; his parents Alfred and Laura and his grandparents Burt and Nell Robbins. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; his son, Jonathan and wife, Hillarie; his grandchildren Colin, Maya, Savana and Isla; his son-in-law, Thomas; and his siblings Craig, Vicki, Jeannie and Bill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Dale.
