Service Details
Jason Grimes, 68, passed away on November 22, 2010 of complications from heart surgery. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Ashworth Road Baptist Church, 5300 Ashworth Rd in West Des Moines.
Jason was born in Ottumwa, IA on December 17, 1941 to Guineveria (Guthrie) and Lloyd Grimes. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1960 and married his high school sweetheart, Amy Belzer that same year. His career was spent in the printing industry beginning with Meredith Corporation, then Wallace Homestead and retired from The Printer, Inc. In his retirement he worked as the shuttle driver for Hummel’s Nissan. He thoroughly enjoyed this position and very much enjoyed talking with people that he transported.
Most of all, Jason enjoyed spending time with his family. The family shared many camping adventures from tent to camper. He loved watching the cooking channel and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jason was also an avid fan of the Iowa State Fair; at times attending during his short lunch hour. He was previously very involved with various church related musical groups.
Jason will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Amy; children, Jason (Janene), Renee (David) Stringer, Kimberly (Paul) Pierce, Melissa Buchholz; brother, Dewey (Mary) Grimes; grandchildren, Heather (Benjamin) Hall, Patricia (Jonathan) Phillips, Christine (Jeremy) Sweet, Michael (Angela) Grimes, Bradley Stringer, Brian Stringer, Chelsey Pierce, Katelyn Buchholz, Brittany Pierce, Zachary Buchholz and Jacob Buchholz; and 9 great-grandchildren.

I new Jason from Nissan and he was a awesome guy, we would talk about Florida because we both loved it there. I will miss him. RIP Jason.

I just wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I know grandpa (Dewey) will miss Jason very much. I will remember "Uncle Jason" fondly.

I am so sad to hear of my cousin Jason dying. Where is he being buried at as his obit doesn't say so that I may make him a memorial?

We were deeply sorry to read of Jason's passing. He was a really neat guy. We always enjoyed seeing him at Grace Baptist. I always enjoyed seeing him come into the Printing Dept. when I was working at Principal. He will be greatly missed.

Dear family of Jason:
I am one of the Hummel's Nissan patrons who had the privilege of having your beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather drive me to and from my workplace. Although that only happened a few times, I always enjoyed my visits with him. He was always very friendly and so intersted in the fullness of life. I am terribly, terribly sorry for your loss. May God grant you comfort and peace.

Dear Amy,Jay, Renee, Kim and Melissa,
I wish there were words to express our sadness for your loss. We have loved your whole family for 45 years. Amy I wish we could turn the clock back to the fun times we had, talking on the phone and spending so much time at each others homes. But most of all I wish there was some special thing I could say or do that would take this pain away for all of you.
I will coninue to pray that you feel Gods nearness and that you take comfort in knowing you will be together again. Keep your family near and lean on each other, and know we love you so very much.

Amy,as I spoke to you this morning I was at a loss of words. I still find this all very hard to believe as I'm sure you feel the same way. I am the receptionist/cashier at Hummel's Nissan and worked with Jason each day he was there. He would call the office and tell us which customer he was bringing in on the shuttle and we would be sure to have the customers car ready and waiting.
Jason was a very nice man. He was very friendly and a hard worker. He was dedicated to do his job to the best of his ability. We will all miss him and his smile. I will continue to pray for you and your family that the Lord will give you the strength you need for each new day.

Jason, Janene and family,
We are lifting your family in prayer and wish that we could be there to support you. Words escape me. There really is nothing I could say that would make a difference except to remember that God's sovereignty can be trusted. He walks with you and will not leave you.
Please tell Mrs. Grimes that I am especially praying for her as I have walked the road of widowhood and understand the pain it can bring. God is gracious and holds her in His mightly and compassionate hand. He alone is sufficient.
