Service Details
Barbara Sue Wheels, 61, passed away on November 20, 2010. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
Barbara was born in Hannibal, MO to Sarah and Robert Jethro Moore. She graduated from Roosevelt. In 1953 she moved to Des Moines. She was most recently a telephone operator for AT&T. She married Robert in 1967 and they were blessed with three children. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, music, and watching Young and the Restless.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert; son, Joey; daughter, Saretta Bates; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Dennis (Gaynale) Moore; 2 sisters, Helen Duke and Danita Cherry. Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Brian; her parents; her brother; a granddaughter and a grandson.

To the Siblings of Barbara Sue "Suzie" Wheels: We feel some of your pain and
are praying for you all. You know how sincere Suzie's love was for all
of you . . . in her own way, steadfast and honest . . . you couldn't ask
for any more than that.
She gave you what you needed when you needed it - whether you knew you
needed it or not! So intuitive and intelligent. Just keep her in your hearts and know
that the possibility of seeing her again is real. She was a gigantic person in spirit, heart
and mind and will be sorely missed. Suzie had so much wisdom, it just wasn't
fair for her to have to suffer. We will continue to keep you in our prayers.
For comfort, you may find John, Chapter 11 encouraging. We love you all.

To Family Words cannot express the heartache and pain that we are all feeling for the loss of a phenomenal woman. Aunt Barbra always had words of wisdom and knowledge that will be forever cherished by myself and all that she had a conversation with. I love you and will continue to pray for you all.

To the Husband of Barbara Sue "Suzie" Wheels: Donnie, you both have had an
adventurous and wonderful life with one another. Although your wife will be
greatly missed by us all, we will always remember her generosity, outspokenness,
beauty, style and grace. We're not bitter about her leaving this earth because we
know she is destined for much more. I honestly believe you will see her again,
at another time, and in another place, because you've been trying to be the best
man you could possibly be. She was so proud of the love, care, and concern you gave
her in her last years. We all love you for that and are proud to say that we had
the privilege of knowing you - a person is always measured by what they do, but only sometimes (measured) by what they say - you've proven yourself to be a wonderful human being.
We'll miss her voice and depth of character, but we know she served her time well on
this earth, so it's okay . . . we'll settle for fond memories. That's just how big
a person she really was. It was a blessing and an honor to have been able to reconnect
with her these last few years. We will never forget her.

To the Children and Grandchildren of Barbara Sue "Suzie" Wheels:
We send our condolences to you all in this time of grief with love. Your
Mother and Grandmother was a wonderful human being and very gracious.
To the very end she was working hard to "make things right" - the
consummate professional and loving person that she was. She had great
expectations of you all and loved you all so very much. She spoke of you all
constantly and was especially proud of those Great-grandchildren!
You know, she was the "Babysitter" of the Woods Family. She had watched
just about all of us "cousins". So you see, she was always into - FAMILY -
and we all knew it. Who else would you leave in charge of your "precious cargo"?
Now cooking fell in line with her ingeniousness! She could make something
taste different just by beating or whipping it a certain way. It takes a REAL
cook to do that. Not everybody can do that - try it - you'll find out. (-:
We know you all are feeling like there is a piece of you missing right now
because quite frankly, there is but, just know that your Mother and Grandmother
is resting right now. She didn't deserve to suffer . . . she was supposed to
be helping someone in some way either by talking to them, scolding them,
researching for them, writing a letter for them, connecting them with other
people to help them, whatever she thought would help - that's what she
would do. That's just how gigantic a person she was. Remember her for
that, and how maybe if you do just some of the things she was known
for, and do them as well as she did them . . . you may see her again.
Just remember John Chapter 11 the story of Lazarus, his sister Martha, and Jesus.
Oh yes, Barbara Sue would read the Bible from time to time also.

My heart is with everyone in this time of sorrow. Barbara Sue was a wonderful
and caring person she always had a smile on her face and a welcoming thoughts.
She was uplifting in a time of need when you really didn't know you needed it.
Although Barbara Sue and I had not chatted as often as we use to I will always
remember when she, Donnee and I would talking and laughing on phone for hours back and forth about out kids and love ones and our aches and pains. They would always bring me up to date with everything that was going on in DesMoines even the things and people that I had forgotten about.
She will be greatly missed. I will be praying for you Donnee and the family it is hard to lose a loved ones and now someone that you had chose to live with the rest of your life together; as the vows say till death do us part. Remember she gone in flesh but not in spirit she will always be with you.

Donny and family,
Barbara Sue will always be in my heart and memories. I thank God for allowing me to know her the way I did. I lost a wonderful, loving, caring sister-like friend. I will always love you guys. I am here if you need me..

To Downey and family
i am so sorry that we have lost Barbie just remember how much she truly loved you all and how much you each ment to her. now she is resting in sleep and does not have to experience any more pain or heartach. she believed in Jehovah and the resurection so we need to remember that most of all she would want us to continue loving one anothr and to remain close and supportive of each other.
I will continue to pray for you all and will see you soon.
Barbie and I grew up literaly together we played baby dolls together and we had our babies together what one of us didnt know the other did or we would search out together. so may barbie rest in peace.
