Megan Renee McConnell, 21, passed away in a tragic automobile accident on November 19, 2010. Her visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the 4 p.m. funeral service Monday at at Adventure-Life Reformed Church, 1700 8th Street SW in Altoona.
Megan was born November 1, 1989 in Overland Park, KS. She was a 2008 graduate of S.E. Polk High School, and she studied Marine Biology at Central Campus. Megan was a member of Adventure-Life Church, was certified for diving by Scuba Schools International, and was employed by Casey's in Altoona.
Megan's many hobbies and talents included: writing poetry, scuba diving, Bob and Marley, her puppies, taking care of her new horse, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Kathy McConnell; her brother Zachariah; her grandparents, Jim (Sam) and Marianne Beu of Altoona, Paul and Sandy McConnell of Diamond, MO and was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, W.H. Lattner and Marilyn Lattner.

I can not tell you in words how my heart hurts for you and your family.
I was just sitting here and started to tell Cody that I had givin money at Caseys for a beautiful young lady that had lost her life in a car crash, I told him how her face was in my mind and on my heart, that I was praying for her family. Together we came to realize it was your beautiful daughter. Cody is beside himself.He wishs so much he had of known, he would have been there. He told me of some wonderful memories he had with your family.We are thinking of you and praying God holds your family in the palm of his hand. My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Megan McConnell.
On behalf of "my circle of friends" i would like to say we will miss Megan. Knowing her just a few years, was enough to see what kind of person/friend Megan was. She had compassion, honesty, and a smile that was infectious. Also, I saw Megan as a genuinely good person, who was confident in herself and what she believed in. She was unique.
Although the time i knew her was short, the memories i recall were funfilled with laughter, and always adventurous. When i think of Megan i think of her spirit and her attitude. Traits that made her special and never forgotten.
God bless the friends and family of Megan, been an honor to be her friend. I know she will be missed.

Megan was a very sweet young lady, who every time I saw her had a beautiful smile on her face.
I can remember babysitting Megan when she was just a baby, she was probably the first person I ever babysat and just as cute as can be.
I will miss her smiles, laughter, and how much she loved and cared about everyone.
I send all my prayers and comfort to Aunt Kathy, Uncle Mike and Zack and hope you all take comfort in the fact that she has joined our heavenly father.

Megan was an amazing person and she had a beautiful soul, she was always helping people out whenever she could and I believe in my heart that she is still helping me. I love you guys (McConnell family), you have always been family to me because Megan was like a sister. She is watching over us now and she will continue to guide us through life and she will continue to put her hand on our backs and let us know that we can do anything when we feel like we have hit bottom, she did with me more than several times. I can already hear her snickering at me as I hang out in the bathroom for minutes on end picking at my face due to pimple breakouts! Like I said I love you guys and I am just a phone call away.

Megan was one the sweetest, most caring, honest, funny, spunky girls i knew. I wasnt one of her "best friends" persay, but i did go to highschool with her and used to hang out with her on ocassion. She had something special and unique about her, she could make just about anyone feel comfortable and give them a laugh. This is a horriable loss and i just wanted write to the family and give my condolences.

We will miss Megan and are deeply saddened by this event. Megan always made me smile and and would tell me like it was, never shy with me and I respected her so much for this. I want the family to know that Megan could not have had a better brother, mother, or father. You have always been there for each other and know that Megan is there looking down on all of us. We love you all.

We are so sorry for your loss. We all loved megan very much and will miss her ever so much. She is not alone were she is and is no doubt surrounded by friends and family, and wishing for all of you to not have to go through what you are. That would be our megan worring about others and wanting to make things easier on them. That was her way and one of the many reasons we all loved her so much. We will keep you in our thoughts.
