Margaret E. Schoen

Margaret Elaine Schoen, 87, passed away on November 19, 2010, at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2600 Capitol Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Sunset Cemetery.

Margaret was born July 28, 1923, to Irene (Belz) and Clarence Hahne in Schaller, Iowa. She married Wayne Schoen in 1946 and together they raised three children. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Employers of Wausau, Bankers Life and lastly for Principal Insurance where she retired in 1984. Margaret was an avid reader, loved to crochet and put together puzzles. But her main love and focus in life, above all, was family.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Linda (Craig) Oldenburger of Savannah, MO, her daughter, Lila (Steve) Mooers of Independence, MO; her sister, Marlene Kimball; her sister in law, Phyllis Weinrich of Pleasant Hill, IA; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne H. Schoen; her son, Gary W. Schoen; her brother, Clarence Hahne; her sister, Mascel Hahne; and her parents Clarence and Irene Hahne.
