Joseph E. George III

Joseph E. George, III, 60, passed away November 17, 2010, at Bright Kavanagh House. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Franklin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joe was born October 13, 1950, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Mary George. The family moved to Iowa shortly after his birth. Joe graduated from Bondurant Farrar High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. Joe worked as a machinist for Axtell. He loved motorcycles and was a member of Team Elves, that achieved six Land Speed Records at Bonneville. Joe was a founding member of the Scorpion Club and enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing.

Joe is survived by his mother, Mary George; brother, Denny George; sisters, Jackie George and Laurie (Dan) Fenimore; nephews, Matt and Tyler; nieces, Kelly and Angela; and many beloved friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. George, Jr.
