Joseph Procyk, 57, died Friday, November 12, 2010, at his home in Pleasant Hill. He was born December 19, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa to Peter and Tillie Procyk.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 98 and enjoyed playing golf, going bowling, fishing, hunting and restoring cars. Joe also had a love for animals.
Joe is survived by his wife, Becky; son, Joe; step-daughters, Leslie Stahowick and Tricia Edwards; mother, Tillie; brothers, Chester (Marta), Stanley (Denise), Eddie (Lisa), and Richard Procyk; sister, Kristine (Joseph) Bell; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Altoona Christian Church, 2890 1st Avenue South in Altoona, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW.

I grew up knowing the Procyk family. Joe was everyone's rock and big brother. He had a heart of gold and stood by his principals and convictions. I am a better person for knowing him. I hope one day my friend I can shake your hand again. I know you're in heaven, hope I make it there. God Bless the Procyk family and I know this is over a year since his death (I just found out). I know you will never be forgotten and you didn't live in vain my friend.

Joe was a childhood neighbor and classmate of mine. He was a sweet person with a gentle soul. My condolences to the entire Procyk family at this sad time. God bless you all.
