Robert was born November 30, 1942 in Indianola, Iowa to Henry and Eupha (Kenney) Graham. They lived in rural Milo until Henry’s death in 1949. The family moved to Indianola where Bob attended elementary school. In 1956 Eupha remarried and they moved to Des Moines, where Bob lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from North High School and attended Grandview College. Like so many young men, Bob enlisted and served in the United States Army with training at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and served in Stüttgart, Germany. Following the Army, Robert attended and graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1968. He returned to Des Moines and worked in retail and wholesale sales and for a time sold real estate.
He married Jean Johnson in 1973 and they had four sons. In 1987 he purchased Greenwood Shoe Repair and operated it successfully for ten years, relocating to McNiel Plaza when Osco was built at the Ingersoll location. He retired in 2001 and following his diagnosis, did not return to work. Bob loved the Lord, loved his church, and loved his family, especially his grandson, Patrick. He enjoyed playing cards and drinking a cold Coke.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jean and four sons, Stuart of Des Moines, Jason of Des Moines, Brian (Brittany Cassidy) of Altoona, and Scott (Elizabeth) of Ames, one grandson Patrick, one sister Colleen and a niece, Nadine, his in-laws Luene Rue, Lois Brinkema and Paul Johnson.
Rest in the arms of Jesus, Bob
