Jean LaVonne Du Bois

Jean L. Du Bois, 84, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Luther Park Care Center in Des Moines. She was born March 21, 1926, in White Oak, Iowa to Rufa and Grace Hildreth.

Jean was a 70 year resident of Ankeny, having been a realtor for Iowa Realty and a small business owner. Jean was a member of the Greater Des Moines Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club. She was a member of the Ankeny Area Historical Society, serving on its Board of Directors, and was a member of the American Legion Auxillary.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Diana Butzlaff of Woodbury, MN, and Sherry (Paul) Anderson of Ankeny; sons, George (Cindy) Du Bois of Ankeny and Dr. Craig (Jean) Du Bois of Austin, TX; sister, Virginia Wheeler; brother, Harold Hildreth; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Du Bois; parents; brothers, Irving and Richard Hildreth; and great-grandson, Samuel Olson.

A private family burial was held Friday, November 5, 2010, at Lincoln Cemetery near Alleman, Iowa. A memorial visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ankeny Area Historical Society.
