Margaret B. Kennedy

Margaret B. Kennedy, 92, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Viewing will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 and funeral services will be held at Glendale Cemetary in Des Moines, Iowa at 1 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 with Pastor Darrel Anderson.

Margaret was born in Des Moines and raised in Van Meter, Iowa on January 27, 1918. On September 18th, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edwin Kennedy in Washington D.C. at the Dodge Hotel. She was a college graduate and had a very successful career with the U.S. Government until her retirement after 37 years of service.

She enjoyed horseback riding, playing the piano, a big baseball fan, and an animal lover. Politics, space craft and our U.S. defense were also passions of hers.

She is survived by her son Toby Dan Kennedy and daughter-in-law, Susanne Kennedy of Mira Loma, CA and Nephew, Lawrence Shea of Las Vegas, NV (great nephew Brian Shea and great-great nephew Haylee Shea also of Las Vegas). She has five grandchildren. Yolennda Kennedy of Imperial Beach, CA, Randy Kennedy of Imperial Beach, CA, Patricial (Kennedy) Dewell of Escondido, CA, Joby Kennedy of Deery, MA, and Brandon Kennedy of Mira Loma, CA. Two Step-Grandchildren, Patrick and Shane Braley of St. George, UT. She has nine Great-Grandchildren. Nicole and Noelle Thomas and Angel and Mandi Hivoina to Yolennda Kennedy. Brandon and Brian Kennedy to Randy Kennedy. Kennedy, Gavin and Graden Dewell to Patricia Kennedy. Four step-grandchildren. Gabriel and Foster Braley to Patrick Braley and McKenzie LaCroix and Trisadee Braley to Shane Braley.

In addition to her parents Jesse and Georgia Lee, she was preceeded in death by her brothers Lawrence and Bobby, and sisters Evelyn, Blanche, and Betty.
