Doris and I shared rides to Carroll when she and Rob lived in Manning. I worked at Crouse Cartage and some days where tougher than others as I had a very demanding supervisor. She would always say, "Did you take your tough pill today?".
We went on icy roads many mornings and after a heavy rain, Highway 71 was flooded and was closed. Instead of turning around and going back to Manning, Doris decided to go over a bridge with the raging river flowing rapidly below us and just said, "Let's pray nothing happens." We made it to work on time taking a few miles of country roads.
Doris was a very wonderful person and I'm glad she was part of my life for the short time we rode together. We had a lot of good talks and shared many things in our lives. She was a good listener and a good conselor. I will cherish my memories.

My sympathy to Doris's family & other friends. I was an art student of Rob's when he taught at the Manning High School so most of you probably don't have any idea who I am. I was Lynna Andresen back then; my friend Donna (Herbers) Hacker & I enjoyed Mr. Taylor's classes-he even added a third level of drawing & painting just for us. I was his teacher's assistant one semester & we always helped with setting up art shows. When we met Doris, we all became good friends & enjoyed her company as much as Rob's. We remained close even after graduation. In recent years, our only contact was an occassional Christmas card but she has always remained close at heart even after Rob's death. I am saddened to hear of her sudden passing. The Lord bless you & comfort you during this time of grief. We share in your loss. Lynna & Jay Miller, Manilla, Iowa.

It has been my privilege to be a classmate of Doris for the past two years in the School for Lay Ministry. Although I did not know her well, it was evident that she was strong in her faith for Christ. She will be missed immensely by her classmates as we complete our final year. My sincere sympathy and prayers for comfort go out to her family.
Love, In Christ,

Doris was such a special lady. She and I were on a "Walk to Emmaus" team in Cedar Rapids a couple of years ago. Doris was always positive and loving, and she will be greatly missed.

What a shock I had when I got an e-mail from Linda Rhoads Scott that Doris had passed away. My prayers and sympathy are out to you girls (Frances, Phyllis, Martha and families). May you find comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven. I know that her church was very important to her and that she is "home". Jesus definitely has made a place for her in his mansion. May God grant you peace.
