Robert W. Niffenegger

Robert (Niff) W. Niffenegger, died on October 23, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Bob was born on March 31, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa to Warren and Stacia Niffenegger.

He retired from Bridgestone Firestone in 1985 after 33 years of service. Robert was a military veteran and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He enjoyed many hobbies including golf, swimming and most recently playing pool with his friends at the Urbandale Senior Center.

He also enjoyed his many lifelong friends in the Des Moines area where he lived his entire life. He especially enjoyed his “Bachelor’s Club” Buddies and spending time with his wife, three children, and five grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sally of 56 years; children, Jeff (Lynda) Niffenegger and their two children, Lindsey and Lucas of Urbandale; Kim Niffenegger of Urbandale; and Jill (Tim) Scott and their three children, Jordan, Parker and Megan of Omaha, Nebraska.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 27, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 28 at Grace Lutheran Church at 3010 52nd Street in Des Moines. A lunch will be provided at the church following interment at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to either the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to Grace Lutheran Church.
