Thomas Walter Dawson

Thomas W. Dawson, 70, died at his home October 16, 2010.

Thomas was born November 22, 1939 in Des Moines to Thomas and Martha Dawson. He worked construction as well as drove truck for a local paper company. Thomas enjoyed working on cars and was always there to help family and friends when their vehicles broke down. He loved spending time with his family, watching CSI and Law & Order.

Thomas is survived by children, Cheryl Dawson (John), Tom Dawson (Cindy), James Dawson (Andrea), Anna Dawson (Dan), Tina Harter (Bill) and Wally Dawson (Lesley); 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Walsh, Nancy Hollingsworth, Bonnie Herrold and Connie Dawson; brother, Kenny Dawson; former spouse, Grace Dawson and step-children, Jerry, Roxy and Billy. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Jerri; his parents, Thomas and Martha; brother, James; sister, Evelyn; grandson, Gregory; and step-son, Roger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
