Leland E. Sandberg

Leland Clarence Sandberg, 81, passed away October 17, 2010, at the Indianola Care Center.

Leland was born August 28, 1929, in Des Moines to Clarence and Coreene Sandberg. In the 1970’s he worked as a janitor at a bicycle shop in Des Moines, which he dearly loved, as he had a true passion for riding and looking at bicycles his entire life. Most recently, Leland worked at Goodwill Industries from 1988 until 1994. Leland enjoyed singing, playing music and most of all, riding his bicycle. He was a huge fan of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Leland was a member of Kingsway Church.

Leland is survived by his sister-in-law, Bes Sandberg; niece and Lorna Langster. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jack and Robert Sandberg.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
