Duane Kibby

Duane Kibby, 74, passed away the morning of October 9, 2010 at Trinty Center at Luther Park of complications associated with Alzheimer’s.

Duane was born in Lohrville, Iowa in 1936 to Wilma and Russell Kibby and was the oldest of five children. He helped raise his family on ten acres in Polk City for 37 years.

An Iowa State University graduate, Duane had a distinguished career as a write, editor and videographer. He was active in many organizations, including Shrine, Kiwanis and the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 plus years, Erma; daughter, Sherri Sansgaard (Eric) and their children Ryan and Kayla; son, Craig Kibby (Kristie) and their sons, Keith and Kyle; son, Tom Kibby (Barbara) and their daughters, Katie and Kelsey; brothers Bill and Bob Kibby and sister Barb Coffie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilda Mae Coleman.

Duane’s body has been donated to science, and a Memorial Service has been planned at West Des Moines UMC, 720 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, on Saturday, October 23, at 10:00 am with a church lunch following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Za Ga Zig Shrine or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
