Marilyn A. Rich, 81, passed away October 8, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Marilyn was born to Ursula and Roscoe Hacker on January 12, 1929. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1946. Marilyn married Donald A. Rich on November 29, 1952. They made their home in West Des Moines, Iowa.
She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church. Marilyn enjoyed reading, her bible study group, water aerobics and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital for over 35 years.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald Rich; her children, Jonathan (Susan) Rich of Vero Beach, FL, Craig (Nancy) Rich of Chino, CA and Diane (Rod) Valdivia of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Emily Doglio, Megan Rich, Tyler and Joseph Rich, and Nicole and Taylor Valdivia; one great-granddaughter, Louisa Megan Doglio; and her brother and sister, William Hacker of Dahlonega, GA and Marlene Brown of Iowa City, IA.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 5 - 7 PM at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
