Marilyn Dailey Vaught, 81, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on October 8, 2010 at Ramsey Village in Des Moines.

Marilyn was born November 11, 1928 in Spencer, IA and graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1946. She received her degree from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI), and began her teaching career in Webster City. After a break from teaching to raise her son, Marilyn finished her career as a beloved 2nd grade teacher in Waverly, IA; retiring in 1989.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Stephen (Patsy Fagan), and grandson Justin. She is also survived by her siblings: Shirley Dailey (friend Nancy Schwarzwalder) of Tucson, AZ, Delores (Lambert) Modder of Mesa, AZ, Harvey “Bud” (Lois) Dailey of Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Alma Dailey and grandson, Tyler Vaught.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19. Inurnment is Saturday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids, IA.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff in the Group Home and Alzheimer’s units for their loving, respectful care and sense of family she received for eight years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Marilyn can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
