Shirley Jimenez

Shirley R. Jimenez passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital. Shirley was born January 4, 1932 to Robert and Mary Ruth Eubanks and lived her entire life in Des Moines.

She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, cooking Sunday dinners for her family, hosting holiday get togethers and shopping. But most of all she loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Abundio (Jim); her parents; brothers, Dee and Gary and one grandson, Brenton Kelly.

Those left behind to honor her memory are her six children - daughters, Yvonne (Jim) Kelly, Rosie (Brent) Rice, Marcie Moorehead and Shelly (Joe) Gazzo and two sons, Jeff and Greg; brothers, Paul Eubanks of Omaha, Nebraska and Donnie Eubanks of Webster City. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She also has several nieces and nephews that will miss her along with her beloved dog, Charro.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary following the visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in loving memory of Shirley.
