Darlene D. Eikenberry

Darlene D. Eikenberry, 82, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. The funeral service will be on Friday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. and the visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Born in Des Moines to John and Hazel Dingeman, Darlene graduated from North High School in 1946. In 1948 she married Don Eikenberry. They made their home in Des Moines and raised five children. Darlene was primarily a homemaker but from time to time worked as a key punch operator. She had many skills, talents and interests. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. She had many friends and played golf and Bridge. She was an excellent cook and baker. After Don passed away, she was very involved with social activities and traveling.

Darlene is survived by her children, Kevin (Marie), Neil, Mark, Todd (Wanda), Jill (Bob) Gray; grandchildren, Paula, Amanda, Eric, Sean, Sarah, Jessica and Adam Eikenberry, and Robert and Joelle Gray; sisters, Marie Wilbois, Nadine Markum and Marilyn Cook; brother, Donald Dingeman; and many nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Don; sisters, Katherine Eivens and Betty Barr; and brother, John Dingeman.
