Service Details
Sandra Jane Miller, 57, passed away Friday September 24, 2010 at the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines. A celebration of her life visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, October 14th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held 11 am Friday October 15 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, with burial at 2 pm at Calvary Cemetery in Churchville, IA.
Sandy was born February 3, 1953 to Arles and Elizabeth Allen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971 and attended Grand View College. She had worked at Palmer’s Deli on Ingersol until her health forced her to quit. Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed watching her sons participate in sports. She loved to decorate and create things. She had a contagious smile and attitude that will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of over 37 years Danny, her sons Daniel (Katie) Miller and Lucas Miller; her mother Elizabeth Allen; her brothers Larry (Lois) Allen, Richard (Peggy) Allen; grandchildren, Kiersten and Colin and numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Sandy’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines for not only the care they took with Sandy, but also the kindness they showed her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines.

Daniel,
I am an old friend from cashier dept - even though we had lost touch over the years I still think of her as a dear friend that helped teach me many things. I was just a young teenager starting out in the world at my first real job and Sandy taught me a ton of things and laughed all the way while doing it...Your right about her smile...it was always there. We shared the births of our first kids together and compared a lot of mothering strategies. She was also a great cook and shared potlucks and recipes that was so much fun.
I know you and the boys meant the world to her and you have great memories to cherish. Hold them close to you at this time to help.

What a beautiful obituary and tribute to Sandy's life. You, Daniel and Lucas were her greatest loves and her world. I know that in death that will not change for Sandy, any more than it will for you.

Danny, I know that anything I say will not help the pain that you and the boys are going through. Sandy was a great person who definitely suffered more than her share. She will always be with you and continue through God's love. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.
