Rolland A. Pohlpeter

Rolland A. Pohlpeter, 63, passed away September 23, 2010 at Taylor House Hospice.

Rolland was born February 25, 1947 in Fort Madison, IA to Raymond and Myrtle Pohlpeter, Sr. He retired from the Fort Madison Police Dept. after 22 years of service, then worked for Pinkerton Security and at Hy-Vee Corporate offices until his health began to decline. Rolland was a member of Ss Mary & Joseph Church in Fort Madison, IA and was an avid golfer.

Rolland is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Eric Pohlpeter; brothers, Richard (Lois) and Larry (Frances) Pohlpeter; sisters, MaryLou Fairlie, Sylvia Pohlpeter, Carmen Pohlpeter, Connie (Bob) Bunker and Peggy Pohlpeter; sisters-in-law, Ann and Nellie Pohlpeter; brother-in-law, Larry (Shanny) Stein; mother-in-law, Esther Stein; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Paul and Royce Pohlpeter; and sisters, Betty Glassford and Shirley Black.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A second visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at King-Lynk Funeral Home, 3507 Ave. L in Fort Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Madison followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Research or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
