Richard Thomas Moran, 30, died unexpectedly of natural causes Thursday, September 23, 2010 at his home. He was born September 27, 1979 to Jim and Sandi Moran in Des Moines and graduated from Saydel High School in 1998.

Following family tradition, Rich went into restaurant management. He worked at AK O’Connors in Beaverdale. More than a bartender, he was often referred to as a professional mixologist. His zest for life and love of music, films, travel, and books was noted by everyone he met.

Most of all, he loved conversing with all his friends and family. Rich was very proud of his Irish heritage and his many nieces and nephews. His wit, infectious smile and vast knowledge were admired by many and will be missed by all. Rich was a true Renaissance Man.

Rich is survived by his parents, Jim and Sandi Moran; brother, Jim (Kristan) Moran and his children, Liam and Aidan; sisters, Erin (Trent) DeVreugd and her children, Tommy, Lindsey, and Joey; Meghan (Jack) Daugherty and her children, Finn, Tess, and Cass; and Bridget (Matt Lester) Moran; maternal grandmother, Lois Robinson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of beloved friends.

Friends may visit with family from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Irish Wake to follow at People’s Court, 216 Court Avenue, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family have established a memorial fund, donations may be made at any Bankers Trust location. The account is “Jack Daugherty, for the benefit of the Rich Moran Memorial Fund.”
