Thomas P. "Smitty" Smith

Thomas P. Smith, 52, passed away September 21, 2010 of natural causes. Tom “Smitty” was born August 2, 1958 in Des Moines and graduated from East High School in 1977. He worked for Freeman Decorating for 18 years setting exhibits and tradeshows then went on to work for Jacobson Warehouse for 10 years in transportation. Tom loved NASCAR and Natural Ice!!!

Tom is survived by his daughter, Meredith (Josh) Parcel; son, Blake Smith; and their mother, Vicki Waugh; three grandchildren, Jordan, Ali and Trevor; brothers, Mike (Alisa) Smith and Steve (Shelly Kern) Smith; and his sister, Diane Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Margaret “Fudge” Smith.

Smitty’s family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
