Ruby Ellen Hartke

Ruby Ellen Hartke, 87, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Hospice of Central Iowa – Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was born October 8, 1922 in Pollock, Missouri to Roy and Ethel (Altiser) Morlan.

Ruby worked as a housekeeper and cook for the Hotel Fort Des Moines as well as a cook for Younkers. She loved her family and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Ruby was also strong in her Christian faith.

Ruby is survived by her children, Jerry Myers, Sharon Dieckoff, Ruby Rezac, Diania (Johnny) Reeves, and Elaine (Mark) Hill; grandson, Jeremy (Brandy) Bos; brothers Fred and Don Morlan; sisters, Margaret, Virginia, and Olive; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, John Hartke and son, Albert Myers.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service Friday, at the funeral home.
