Richard “Dick” Mason, 89, died September 21, 2010 at the Taylor Hospice House.
Dick was born to Zeta and John Mason March 22, 1921 in Des Moines. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II, he was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Dick worked for Iowa Power for over 30 years.
He enjoyed traveling, swimming and spending time with his family. Dick was a Hawkeye fan. He was very active with the veteran’s affairs including Honor Flights. He was a lifetime member of Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church.
Dick is survived by children, Craig (Joy) Mason and Terry (Bill) Shaver; siblings, John (Phyllis) Mason, George Mason and Jean Nelson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Penisten, Michael Mason and Clayton Shaver.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Angie; sisters, Alice Delmott, Helen McBeth and Sara Christensen; infant granddaughter.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held 10 am, Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Visitation will occur from 5-8 pm, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church or Taylor Hospice House in loving memory of Dick.

my prayers go out to all of his family and everyone who knew him. We at Target (food avenue) Will miss seeing him,as he came in almost every morning with a big smile on his face to have his coffee.
