Dr. Richard Fuller, 80, passed away September 20, 2010 of heart failure.

Richard was born September 17, 1930 in Des Moines to Charles and Emma (Dart) Fuller. He graduated from East High School in 1948 and went on to graduate from Grand View College, Drake University and University of Iowa Dental School. Following U of I Dental School, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning to Des Moines he began practicing dentistry and established his own practice in 1963. He remained in practice for 50 years. Richard was a huge supporter of East High Athletics and was an avid Hawkeye Football fan.

Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon; daughter, Karen (Kevin) Edwards and her family, Heath, Ross and Kelsey; son, Rick Fuller; son, Dr. Steven (Beth) Fuller and his family, Austin, Samuel, Rebekah and Olivia; and daughter, Jennifer Fuller and her family, Savanna and Caleb; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Grant Park Christian Church, 2440 Capitol Avenue, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to East High School or Shriners Children's Hospitals.
