John M. Eggen

John M. Eggen, 77, passed away September 17, 2010 in Boone.

John was born and raised in Randall, IA. He was a Paratrooper for three years with the Army Airborne. He lived in Des Moines for 20 years, moved to Spencer, IA for 13 years, moved to Van Meter, IA and resided there until his retirement in 1998, and was currently residing in Boone. He was a beloved Iowa Hawkeye fan.

John is survived by his son, John (Becky) Eggen of Des Moines; daughter, Trina (Bill) Buchholtz of Eau Claire, WI; grandchild, Kacie Eggen; sisters, Irene Lovelace and Darlene Lean; and his longtime companion, Jean Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Martha Eggen and his brother, Jim Eggen.

Per his request, his body has been donated to Des Moines University for research purposes and services will be held at a later date.
