Robert Ellson

Robert Ellson, 84, of Arlington, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 12, 2010, in Arlington, Texas.

Robert was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 4, 1926, the son of the late William Robert and Irene Rice Ellson. Robert served in the U.S. Navy as an AMM3 in WWII, and worked as a truck driver for 43 years. He also was a 32nd degree Mason, East Gate Lodge No. 630 A.F. and A.M. of Des Moines, Iowa. Robert was in the greeter unit for the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Altoona, Iowa.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Jackie and son-in-law Dwight Clark of Osceola, Iowa, and Sandra and son-in-law Ron Hyden of Arlington, Texas; two sons, Bobby Ellson of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jerry and daughter-in-law Lou Ellson of Chariton, Iowa; one sister, Zona Tilton of Urbandale, Iowa; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, Iowa, and funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Green officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
