Service Details

Arthur passed away at the Bright Kavanagh House on September 13, 2010, at the age of 82.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 12-2 pm at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, followed by services at 2 pm and burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery.

Arthur was born on November 9, 1927 to Peter and Mae (Stewart) Van Dusseldorp in Colfax IA and lived in Prairie City his first few years before moving to Altoona. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1946, married Loretta Sears on April 21, 1952, and resided on the East side since the mid-1950’s. Dutch retired from the Rock Island Railroad after 32 years of service.

He enjoyed coaching softball and basketball in his younger years and then watching his family’s sporting events, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, traveling, and visiting with friends at Dahl’s, Hy-Vee, Prairie Meadows, and Park Fair – he never met a stranger!

Dutch is survived by his daughters, Nancy Winget (Don) of Des Moines and Deb Van Dusseldorp of Ankeny; grandchildren, Kathleen Winget and Michael (Melissa) Winget; great grandsons, Bradley Fane, Drew Winget and Cael Winget. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Bright Kavanagh house for the excellent care given to Dad. Memorials may be made to Bright Kavanagh House, 3000 Easton, Des Moines, IA 50317, in his memory.
